IS A LUNCH CLUB FOR ME?
Glasgow City Council and other groups run lunch clubs. They are usually for people over 60. The cost is often under £5 and it means you get a cooked meal and meet other people in your area. A lot of over 60s still work and have busy lives but others find themselves isolated because of health issues or caring obligations. For some lunch clubs are a lifeline where they can make friends and enjoy social activities. If you'd like to try a lunch club you can call and ask if they have spaces available. You can be referred by Social Services or other professionals but for most of the clubs you can refer yourself - and you don't always have to be 60. If they have space they will be flexible about a year or two. You don't have to be on a pension or benefits. You don't have to go to the club nearest your home. Clubs in some areas will be more popular so if you call and they're full up try another club.
